The government-owned company is engaged in the design and manufacture of an observational telescope in the Canary Islands. Its telescope has the latest instruments that capture light and produce direct images (viewable by the human eye) and spectra (spectrographs split the light into its different wavelengths). These instruments are the following: OSIRIS, CanariCam, ELMER, EMIR and FRIDA. The company has more than 60 experts working in its board of directors, and its science, management, administration, quality and safety, systems, on-site, enclosure, optics, telescope, control and instruments divisions. The company was incorporated in May of 1994 and conducts business operations from its registered head office based in San Cristobal de La Laguna, Spain (Canary Islands).
